1. Metrics for Online Coverage

 

Nectarine provides a raft of automated metrics for individual pieces of online coverage.

The metrics below are available via the Online Coverage & Metrics widget. Learn how to use the widget here.

 

1.1. Website Metrics

 

Metrics about the publication on which the coverage appeared.

 

 

Monthly Visits (Reach)

This is an estimate of the total number of visits or sessions that a publishing website receives in a month, provided by SimilarWeb

Monthly Unique Visits

The number of individual people who visit the website in a month.

Domain Authority

A score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages. Ranges from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.

Visits Last 3 Months

A trendline that plots the relative number of visits to the website over time. 

Average Visit Duration

The average amount of time spent on the website per visit. A good indicator of the quality of the website and reader engagement.

 

1.2. Coverage Views

 

 

Coverage Views shows how many times an article is likely to been seen both on the publishing website and across all social media platforms if it's been shared.

 

Coverage Views

This new PR metric estimates the number of times a specific article will be seen both on the publishing website and across social media platforms (if it's been shared).

The Website

An estimate of the number of times a piece of coverage will be viewed on the publishing website.

Open Social

An estimate of the number of times a piece of coverage will be seen on open social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest, which provide sharing data via an API).

Dark Social

An estimate of the number of times a piece of coverage will be seen on dark social platforms (e.g. Linkedin, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and others which do not provide data via an API).

1.3. Social Engagement

 

 

Social Engagement

The Social Engagement metric can be broken down as follows:

  • The total number of shares, likes, comments and reactions that the piece of coverage achieved on Facebook, plus
  • The total number of shares that the piece of coverage achieved on Twitter and Pinterest, plus
  • An estimate of the total number of shares that the piece of coverage achieved on dark social media such as Linkedin, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger

Facebook

The total number of shares, likes, comments and reactions (if the article has received reactions, then reaction sentiment is also displayed).

Twitter

The total number of shares.

Pinterest

The total number of shares.

Dark Social

An estimate of the number of times an article has been shared on platforms like Linkedin, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and others.

2. Summary Metrics

 

The Summary Metrics widget calculates totals and averages based on the content within a Nectarine report. Users can also add custom metrics. Learn how to use the Summary Metrics widget here.

This totals the number of pieces of coverage added to the Print Coverage widget.

The total number of articles in all Online Coverage widgets.

Total Monthly Website Visits

Adds the number of visits or sessions across all publishing websites. Also known as 'Reach' or 'Opportunities to See' / 'OTS'.

Total Monthly Unique Website Visitors

Totals the number of unique visitors to all publishing websites.

Average Domain Authority

Averages the Domain Authority across all publishing websites.

Adds the number of shares of all online coverage on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
